- Did you know that talking on your cell phone 2-1/2 hours a month (not more than 30 minutes a week) is considered "a heavy user"? 

- Did you know a Canadian study found 558 hours of cell phone use can more than a doubled the risk of brain cancer? 

- Did you know the Chicago Tribune recently did an independent investigation into the cell phone scandal (Phonegate) and confirmed the findings that iPhone 7 and other smart phones exceeded the Safety Code 6 guidelines for radiation exposure? 

- Did you know Apple and Samsung are knowingly selling products that exceed allowable radiation limits and have failed to warn its consumers regarding radiation risks and the need to keep the phone at a safe distance away from the body? 

- Did you know the Chicago investigation also confirmed what the French National Agency has warned about for some time that 90% of all the major cellphones tested (more than 450) emitted significantly higher levels of radiation exceeding the safety compliance standards, up to 5 times the current guidelines when phones are tested as they are used in real life?

 - Did you know a recent study by Professor Om Gandhi examined data from 450 cell phones and also confirmed that the phone can exceed the guidelines and emitted up to 11 times over the US FCC limit when used under realistic conditions?

 - Did you know the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), has failed to do its due diligence by allowing cell phones to be brought onto the market without any independent, practical/realistic-use safety testing?

 - Did you know the manufacturers of cell phones are allowed to self report and only have to submit a sample of a one new phone, sent directly from the factory, to comply with exposure standards that has been set by the industry? 

- Did you know Rob Fleming, previous Minister of Education, had refused to follow Ontario’s lead and ban cellphones and personal devices in our schools, when his child is attending the only school in Victoria with a cell phone ban? 

- Did you know Rob Fleming has denied parents the opportunity to make an informed decision for their children, on the cell phone ban in BC? 

Our question is: Will you allow parents to make an informed decision on the use of wireless technology in our schools?

 - Did you know that thousands of peer-reviewed studies show adverse health effects from wireless radiation exposure including cancer, neurological harm, abnormal brain development and reproductive health problems? 

- Did you know that a $30 million dollar, 10-year study by the US National Toxicology Program on 2G and 3G technologies found “Clear Evidence” of cancer in the heart and brain from the prolonged exposure to wireless radiation from cell phones? 

- Did you know there have been NO long-term studies done on 4G and 5G technologies? 

- Did you know another long term study by the Ramazzini Institute also found that exposure to wireless radiation from distant cell towers was associated with a increased risk of malignant heart tumors confirming the results of the NTP study? 

 - Did you know that a researcher Zorach Glaser, Ph.D. spent decades archiving over 4,000 studies beginning from 1961 that examine the association of certain health issues and exposure to microwave and radio frequencies? 

 - Did you know that over 240 scientists who have published peer-reviewed research on the biologic and health effects of nonionizing electromagnetic fields, or EMF, signed the International EMF Scientist Appeal, which calls for stronger RF exposure limits? 

 - Did you know that the BC Government, Health Officials and School Officials have willfully dismissed all credible health information presented to them from qualified experts, nationally and internationally, which emphasizes children's heightened vulnerabilities and the need for "precautionary" measures to reduce exposure and risk from the harmful effects?

Just in: A test by Penumbra Brands to measure how much wireless radiation an iPhone 11 Pro gives off found that the phone emits more than twice the amount allowable by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Brian Ahier, Director Radiation Protection Bureau, in response to our letter said, “There are no standards applicable to cell phones or other wireless communication devices under the Radiation Emitting Devices Regulations. In Canada, the regulation of cell phones and other wireless communication devices is the responsibility of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), under the Radiocommunication Act. To ensure that public exposures fall within acceptable guidelines, ISED has developed regulatory standards that require compliance with the human exposure limits outlined in Safety Code 6.  ISED conducts regular audits to help ensure that devices on the market and antenna installations are compliant.

 

We want to know why the ISED has failed to do its due diligence by allowing cell phones to be brought onto the market without any independent, practical/realistic-use safety testing?

France has asked the European Commission to strengthen the regulations and guidelines for new mobile phones placed on the market. As recommended by ANSES, the Government has requested that the certification tests be carried out in regards to the contact with the device, and not at 5 mm as is currently the case, so that they are more representative of the real exposure of users.  France also asked for an information campaign to encourage changes in ways of use, especially among children.
