A virtual
ban on cellphone use at Central Middle School — a
first in the Greater Victoria School District — has
already had an effect. “It’s sort of
surreal — you come into the building and there are no
phones around,” said Central principal Topher
Macintosh, noting only two phones have had to
confiscated since the policy kicked in in September,
although some students might have cellphones stashed
in their backpacks.
Li-Fi eyes opportunity as France bans Wi-Fi in schools
The French government has moved to outlaw Wi-Fi in nurseries, schools and childcare centres that cater for children under six. The move is offering inspiration to the creators of Li-Fi, a system that uses light to provide Internet access.The main biological effects of IR-A radiation are infrared cataracts and flash burns to the cornea due to temperature rise in the tissue. But IR-A radiation wavelengths are close to the visible light wavelengths and are transmitted to a small extent to the retina; permanent retinal damage can occur if exposure is prolonged. As wavelengths increase into the IR-B and IR-C regions the radiation is no longer transmitted to the retina but corneal flash burn injuries can still be caused.” – University of Warwick, Health and Safety Department

Oct 2014 - I'm afraid to talk about this
publicly, because I do not want to be labeled as
crazy. Niemelä explains that the issue
of mobile phone radiation has always been kept quiet
at Nokia. You cannot talk about it
within the company. But among the staff, it has been
speculated whether radiation can cause damage. But no
one dared to bring it up, because it can get them
kicked out.
