Dear Mr. Rob Fleming,

Parents have been robbed of their right to protect their children from harm because YOU HAVE MADE THE DECISION not to ban the use of Cell Phones in BC classrooms and yet your child is benefiting from the one Middle School in Victoria with a ban of cell phones.  The Ontario government allowed the parents to make an informed decision, which resulted in over 80% of parents voting in favour of the cell phone ban in their classrooms. 

It’s clear the constant use of cell phones is interfering with our children’s ability to interact and develop healthy relationships in the real world.  This addiction is robbing our children of the opportunity to build life skills that include critical thinking, communication, cooperation, and the ability to focus.

Besides the negative impact this addiction has on learning, parents, teachers and students are aware of the SCIENTIFIC FACT that microwave radiation exposure causes biological effects confirming the growing evidence of neurological effects and developmental delays with irreversible health effects, such as Depression, Suicide, Violence, Anxiety, Autism, Addiction, Behavioral Issues, Heart Episodes, Infertility, ADD/ADHD, Compromised Ability to Learn, Headaches, Nose/Ear Bleeds, Brain Fog, Difficulty Concentrating, and Cancer.  As documented in over 28,000 published peer-reviewed studies by scientists and medical experts. https://www.emf-portal.org/en

If one cell phone causes cancer, then what happens when you enter a school where there is 25 cell phones and 25 chrome books downloading in just one classroom, with multiple commercial Wi-Fi routers, white boards with over head projectors, wireless audio systems through out the school, surrounded by cell towers, small cells, Wi-Fi hotspots. What are the levels of radiation that our children are experiencing daily in our classrooms?  Who has put an exposure control plan in place, measuring levels of radiation, educating students and staff of the safe use of wireless products as per the federally mandated safety manual, who is identifying risks, monitoring health and documenting the results? 

Portland, Oregon has just passed Bill 283 directing Oregon Health Authority to review peer-reviewed, independently funded scientific studies of health effects of exposure to microwave radiation, particularly exposure that results from use of wireless network technologies in schools and to report results of review to interim committee of Legislative Assembly related to education not later than January 2, 2021.  Specifies requirements for review.  Directs Department of Education to develop recommendations to schools in this state for practices and alternative technologies that reduce students’ exposure to microwave radiation that Oregon Health Authority report identifies as harmful.  Declares emergency, effective on passage.  https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2019R1/Downloads/MeasureDocument/SB283

Yet your position as Ministry of Education and our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, Ministry of Health, Adrian Dix, Deputy Minister of Health, Stephen Brown and Premier, John Horgan, have refused our request for an official response to the findings of the US National Toxicology Program Expert Panel and the supporting Ramazzini Institute who concluded that there is “Clear Evidence of Carcinogenic Activity” and the association of cancer in the heart and brain and cell phone radiation.

Children are still putting these devices to their heads, abdomens and in their pockets when the Safety Manuals clearly state” keep phone at least 15mm (5/8inch) away from the body, and only use carrying cases, belt clips or holders that do not have metal parts and that maintain at least 15mm (5/8) separation between the cell phone and the body.”  A new study has just been released showing cell phones exceed safety limits when the phone touches the body.  Professor Om Gandhi examined data from 450 cell phones and found the phone can emit 11 times over the US FCC limit.  https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp&arnumber=8688629

Why is the government refusing to educate parents, teachers and students on the safe use of these wireless devices?  Just recently an Italian court ordered the government (Ministries of the Environment and Education) to launch a campaign to advise the public of the health risks from mobile and cordless phones.  https://microwavenews.com/short-takes-archive/italian-decision-precaution

Our government has willfully dismissed all credible health information presented to them from qualified experts, nationally and internationally, which emphasizes children's heightened vulnerabilities and the need for "precautionary" measures to reduce exposure and risk from the harmful effects.

The most current letter on file is dated July 2011, from our School Health Officer, Dr. Stanwick, who was unable to provide us with any peer-reviewed studies stating the safety of microwave radiation exposure. Dr. Stanwick instead has shifted “the responsibility for professional oversight” to the Provincial Health Officer. Dr. Stanwick, appears to have no educational background on the biological health effects of RF radiation exposure, yet has endorsed the installation of a known 2b carcinogen listed next to lead, DDT, methyl mercury, chloroform, and car exhaust as an acceptable risk in our schools. It's 2019 and we want to know is Cancer an acceptable risk too?

As the Minister of Education you have a moral and legal obligation, after being notified of the “clear evidence” of cancer, to “act in good faith,” by taking measures to mitigate the risk of harm to our children while under your care.  

We are requesting again, the opportunity to talk to you in person about this health crisis.  Please do not waste your time sending us a form letter.
